How did my (CO) rep vote on the bailout?
We don’t post political stuff here, and I’m going to do my best to keep it that way. Please follow the links to let your congressional representative know how you feel about their recent vote on the financial bailout package. In Stephen Colbert’s words, the brink of financial meltdown is getting “brinkier”.
Visit this page at Colorado.gov to contact your rep (or see a map of the districts and find how who represents you).
I heard on the radio that some reps are getting 100 to 1 feedback against the plan and as of Fri-Sat, the Zogby polling numbers show 46% to 46% at the National level. Those numbers don’t jive.
Hey Mark! This isn’t a comment on how the Colorado reps are voting. :) I had lunch today with Mr. Klopfenstein and he would love to catch up on how things are going with both you and Bruce. Could you send me your emails that I could forward to him? I promise I won’t give it to a third party. :) To catch you up briefly on me- we just returned stateside after a total of 7 years in Korea, and we’re hopefully now heading to Germany. Happy 5th anniversary this week!
Done!
The whole things a giant mess with enough blame to spread around to everyone – including the American tax payer. As a society, we are just like the giant Wall Street firms – way over leveraged with a focus on consumption for consumptions sake (can someone say negative personal savings rate). The truth is that we are truly in uncharted territory and no one knows what will really happen if the bailout doesn’t go through. But, we are due for some shrinkage – and that will probably occur regardless of whether this plan goes through or not. I can not stand Marilyn Musgrave, but I say hooray for her standing up to a 3 page plan that gave the secretary of treasury unprecedented power to do what he/she likes with $700b of our money. This isn’t the first time the Bush presidency has come to us with hat in hand telling us that if we do not act immediately, the consequences will be dire. What is that saying? Something about those who do not learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them?
