Mountain Cloud Breakers
These clouds appeared for just a few minutes at the end of the day on Sunday. Wave clouds often form over mountains, but I’ve never seen them break like this one before. These are waves breaking in the air the same way waves break on a beach. After a few minutes they mixed out and disappeared. It was quite lovely.
i guess i need to start paying more attention, ’cause i’ve never see that before. it’s fantastic! i thought you’d been experimenting with photoshop before i actually read the post.
kelvin-helmholtz waves, I believe. you’ll see these occasionally over the front range. in the almost five years that i have been here, i’ve only seen them a couple of times.
