Movies!!

October 31, 2007 at 6:34 am

So, I’ve been saving up a ton of little movie clips over the past year or so. Last weekend, I finally put a couple up on YouTube, and then added a page dedicated to Movie Clips back to the site. Check it out! As always, let me know if anything isn’t working the way you’d expect it to, or if you have any comments or suggestions. Thanks!

Updates Galore!

August 18, 2007 at 8:09 pm

Its a long story, but this weekend I got started on some site updates that I’ve been wanting to play around with for a long time, and I may have gotten a tad carried away. There’s still lots to be finished up, so don’t sweat it if things move around a bit in the next few weeks.

I’m really curious what people think of the new photo gallery. I think the Zen Photo code base is a nice bit of software, and the lightbox effects are just friggen cool! But, if it doesn’t work on your computer for whatever reason, please leave a comment here and let me know! Thanks!

One year of blogging!

June 18, 2007 at 9:10 am

June 16th is the official one-year anniversary of this blog! Yey! It’s been a great year, full of adventure and excitement, made all the better for being able to share it with all of you! In honor of this special occasion, I’ve decided to pull out some of my favorite posts, and link to them here for you. Some are great just for the photos, others for the stories, and some just for the memories. Enjoy!

Fine, I give up

Upon great pressure, I yield to the majority. I have created a MySpace page. I’m sorry.

And, on a side note, anybody know how to post blog entries from WordPress into MySpace? Is that possible?

Buttermilk Clouds

Quite the field of boundary layer cumulus this morning. These are pretty rare for Colorado. The weather has been so great lately, that I’ve been able to get back to riding my bike to work. Wow, I am sore!

I’ve been working a bit on the site lately. You’ll notice a more fine-tuned category list on the side-bar to the left. I’m not completely done with the re-org, but I should be soon. I’m also working with Dylan to update and debug the Adventure Map. If you haven’t played with this toy much, I strongly suggest it. It’s pretty darn cool.

On Saturday, Mark is leaving for Japan for a week. I’m hoping to get him blogging about that trip too. It’s going to be neat to be able to put some pins on the map in Japan and then Italy in July!!

A Few Small Improvements

March 20, 2007 at 9:09 pm

Spent a little time working on the site this week.

As you may have noticed, I added a link to the Adventure Map on all posts with location information associated with them. It’s pretty cool, if you see the “View on the Adventure Map!” link at the top of the post, give it a try!

Also, I added a little graph on the left side of the number of nights we’ve spent outside since I started the blog last summer. I’m hoping to expand this into a section or page on our camping and climbing statistics. Should be interesting, check back!

Finally, I removed all possibility of adding comments to photos in the photo gallery. I also cleaned out the comment database which had been massively bloated with spam in the last few months. Yikes. So now, if you want to comment on any of the pictures, please add your comments to the blog or flickr sites. Thanks!

Mark vs. Wild: The Rocky Mountains

January 11, 2007 at 9:39 am

So, last night I had a great time, and I finally put together the Mark vs. Wild video that I’ve had laying around for the last two months. I put it up on the video page, check it out! I apologize now for the constant girl-ish giggling of the camera-woman. I was just having too much fun, I guess.

It is a rather large file. Evidently adding the soundtrack, while lots of fun to do, made the file bloat a bit. Just be patient during the download, I guess.

I am aware of the fact that Mark and I are probably two of the total maybe 10 people in the world who Tivo Man vs. Wild on the Discovery Channel. We find it hi-larious, and fully entertaining. Poor Bear, he puts himself through so much trauma just in case we might someday get lost on a volcano in Hawaii.

Thus, if you’ve never seen the show, the video clip may not make a ton of sense (or be nearly as funny as it was for us to make it). There are clips of the show on the fansite, and here are a few more from You Tube: frozen Lake in the European Alps, bad night in the rainforest, and silly fun in the Moab desert.

Links Page

January 4, 2007 at 8:32 am

Well, I’m home sick again today. Some kind of icky flu. At least today I don’t have the headache that I did yesterday, so I’m able to read and write. I’m not moving off the couch though.

So, I had time to put together a new Favorite Sites page. This is just a spot where we can put up links to sites around the web that Mark and I check out fairly often. Of course, we’ll still add blogs we read to the side bar at left, and links to pages directly related to ColoCalders.Com just above them. The list is kind of small right now, so check back occasionally as we add more links.
