Wow, its been almost a year since I last posted a high-res image for your desktops! I can say, I haven’t been out shooting as much as I have in the past, and I don’t feel bad about it either. :) Right now, photography isn’t at the top of my list of things to do in my spare time. But, I still get out occasionally, and this shot came out so nice and summery, I thought I’d share it.

As usual, I’ve saved the image as a few different sizes for the most common screen resolutions. Feel free to download the one that works for you by clicking on the link to the correct size below each shot! These files can be a bit large, so be a little patient as your computer downloads them.

It’s been a long time since I put up a photo for a background image. My computer at work still has snow-covered pine trees! So, here’s a couple spring or summer-time offerings for your desktop pleasure.

And WIRED suggested a cool way to photograph Christmas Lights, here are another set of hi-res images for your desktop background! These are actually shots of our Christmas tree in Fort Collins, at night. I shot between a half second and 2/3 second exposures, where I threw the camera up in the air, spinning and tumbling for each one. I think they’re pretty cool! And I only threw my expensive SLR on the floor once. It seems fine.

Happy Christmas, Everybody!!

I have been soooo bad with the blog this fall. No posts since October!! This is the worst in two years of working on this baby. And why? No real reason. I suppose I just needed (still, perhaps, need) a break.

We’ll call it writer’s block.

But there’s still some good photography going on around here. A little bit. So, I’ll lay off the verbiage, and just post some pretty pictures. Maybe that will help me get back into the groove.

This desktop image comes from a hike up a little mountain just west of Fort Collins. It was a day before the snow really started to fly, and the trees were all sporting their first dusting. Winter is starting kids! No question of it.

Yes, I’m falling behind this summer. There are so many things I’ve wanted to post but have had trouble getting around to it. To make up for neglecting the free desktop images (all summer), here are TWO NEW DESKTOPS, just for you!

Both are from our day of climbing Hallett Peak a few weekends ago, when we were able to watch the sunrise from above 11,000ft in Rocky Mountain National Park. I could watch the sun rise over the Continental Divide every day for the rest of my life and be a happy girl.

I took votes from friends as to which photos would make the best desktop from the beach shots. I ended up ignoring them all. I decided that if I was going to stare at one shot for the next couple of weeks, it would be one of the dolphins. I love the dolphins.

Well, it’s definitely starting to feel like spring out side, and in Colorado, that means lots of wind, and a good bit of snow. We haven’t had much snow, but we’re doing just fine for wind around here.

I made the image here as a comp (composite) in Photoshop using two pictures. One was a wide-angle shot of the clouds with the sky darkened using the circular polarizer. And the other was a 300mm telephoto image of the moon on a clear sky during another afternoon. I think it turned out ok. As usual, I’ve saved the image as a few different sizes for the most common screen resolutions. It’s about time! As much as I like the yellow aspens, I’m getting tired of looking at them. The other not-so-secret purpose for the trip up to Loch Vale was to make a slightly more seasonal desktop background. I had a bunch of great photos (Check out the gallery!), but I liked this one the best. As usual, I’ve saved the image as a few different sizes for the most common screen resolutions. Feel free to down load the one that works for you by clicking on the link to the correct size below the image! Enjoy, and Happy Imminent Boreal Winter Solstice!
